If secures employees’ skills for the future

Upskilling and reskilling are new ways to grow in a career in an ever-changing job market. With our new initiative, Growth Talks, we help our employees to gain new experiences and develop new skills.

At If, we want to contribute to a sustainable future, and our employees naturally play a crucial role. That’s why we’ve introduced Growth Talks – a forward-looking dialogue that connects our employees’ ambitions with the skills that we will need in the future. It’s about more than career development; it’s an opportunity to explore strengths, reflect on goals, and shape a culture where both individuals and the company grow.

“We live in a time where the job market is changing rapidly. In the past, career paths were often about climbing the corporate ladder, but today, it’s more about continuous learning and development. Being inquisitive, gaining new experiences, or developing a new skill are essential to staying relevant”, says Malin Isberg, who is People Development & Culture Specialist at If and has led the project.

In 2024, Growth Talks replaced the traditional development dialogue at If, which had focused more on evaluation and follow-up. Now, we emphasise future growth and how we can enable our employees to reach their full potential. Growth Talks dives deep into the critical skills that employees need today and will need in the future – and potentially for other roles within the company.

“Internal mobility is something we encourage at If, and it aligns perfectly with the global trends that we see in the future job market. To stay ahead, we need to develop our strengths. That’s why we are now investing even more in growth and skills development for our employees”, Malin continues.

At If, we strive for a strong feedback culture that encourages openness, reflection and progress. By gathering feedback from colleagues and leaders, our employees can identify their strengths and areas for development—and receive the encouragement that they need to grow.

“At If, development isn’t just about what we need today but also about being prepared for tomorrow. We encourage our employees to think ahead, and we explore their ambitions together. What new skills can you develop? How can you help shape a sustainable and successful company?”, concludes Malin Isberg.
